If you are in need of dentures, it may be worth the while to know the possible options. Though it is not something that you would require as often as one can think of, yet when it comes to choosing between different dentures, it is good to understand each of them.
With the development of medical sciences every day, newer treatments, newer dentures and newer procedures are available which are better than before.
Typically there are four types of dentures available. Each one is different in its own way with different characteristics as well.
4 Types of Dentures
- Standard Dentures
- Immediate Dentures
- Cu-Sil Dentures
- Dental Implants
The standard denture is primarily for those who have lost their teeth. They are the considered conventional ones. They can be made to the right size of the patient by removing partially the back position of the dentures. However, the downside to this is that the more it is removed the less of a seal it has to hold them in place.
Immediate dentures are more of temporary ones. They are fitted on patients who have had their teeth extracted and need one on an immediate basis. Once a more permanent denture is customized the immediate denture is replaced by a more permanent one.
Cu-Sil dentures are dentures are for those who do not have any teeth. It is not meant for those who have few teeth missing. It is a form of denture that require considerable amount of alignment and stability.
Dental Implants are by far the best options available, although an expensive one at that. It is a process where a titanium implant is done at the jaw bone. Once the implant sets in, a bridge is customized to one’s natural teeth and is placed on top of it. The implant gives one the natural abilities as would ones natural teeth. It is a stronger option that is available, although can be done only on patients who are considered medically fit to handle it.
